Seawork 2023 and the SMI
We had a brilliant time at Seawork 2023 connecting with some fascinating businesses and discovering the latest technology in the marine sector. It was also an ideal time to discuss our interest in becoming a member of the Society of Maritime Industries (SMI).

The three day event was a perfect opportunity to meet up with some familiar faces from our supplier organisations, as well as a chance to forge new working relationships.
A highlight for us was meeting Tom Chant MBE and Tim Curass from the Society of Maritime Industries (SMI).
We are very pleased to announce that Nivalis are now members of SMI – the voice and champion of UK maritime engineering. We’re now included on their directory and hope that this partnership will lead to many exciting opportunities for Ice Pigging to be utilised in the maritime sector.
Ice Pigging in the maritime sector
Ice Pigging is an incredibly effective method for pipe cleaning in ships as it enables the cleaning procedure to be carried out very quickly and efficiently, therefore keeping dock times at a minimum and saving money all round.
The SMI is about supporting engineering focused businesses and has a strong membership associated with the Royal Navy, Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA), MoD etc., organisations which will benefit greatly from our Ice Pigging offering.
Other benefits of joining the Society of Maritime Industries
The SMI is an international organisation which is well placed to facilitate introductions overseas as well as in the UK. It provides an excellent platform for networking with businesses and organisations in the maritime sector, as well as a direct way for us, Nivalis, to receive the latest industry news and updates allowing us to understand industry drivers and challenges.
The SMI also offers us the opportunities to attend events where Ice Pigging can be presented to a wider audience and can support Nivalis when we are part of a “pavilion” of smaller businesses at exhibitions.
Seawork 2024
We were very impressed with Seawork as an event and are looking forward to attending next year as an exhibitor. Keep an eye on their webpage for details of next year's event as we'd love to see you there. And in the meantime if you have any questions about Ice Pigging or industrial pipe cleaning please get in touch.
