Benefits Chevron

Save Time

Because Ice Pigging is more effective, you have to clean less often. And when you do, it’s quicker.

Unlike other methods, Ice Pigging cleans in a single pass.

Save Time

Cut down pipe cleaning time to minutes

We can clean long lengths of large diameter pipework and complex geometries, sometimes in minutes. Smaller diameters, even with inline restrictions such as valves and gauges, probes and most pumps etc., can be Ice Pigged extremely quickly too.

When the Nivalis team are deployed to provide Ice Pigging as a service to the customer, the set up and removal time for Ice Pigging is also much lower than with other cleaning methods, with minimal system invasiveness, so we’ll be out of your way quicker.

The non-destructive nature of Ice Pigging (a soft clean) minimises the need for extensive downtime, contributing to increased operational efficiency.

Let Ice Pigging Save You Time

Ice Pigging uses a slurry of fine ice crystals, pumped through a pipe to scour it clean without any damage.

The pipe stays in place, the shutdown of the production line stays short, and the line can then be validated as fit for purpose and returned to use.

Most of the delay in cleaning process lines is not the cleaning itself, but is in taking the line apart, waiting for access, running repeat flush cycles, and putting everything back together.

Our innovative Ice Pigging technique cuts out these steps.

There is minimal disruption. Ice is injected upstream and removed to drain or tank as far downstream in the process to maximise the system clean. Just a short, planned outage which can be timed with production processes and key projects.

The ice slurry travels at low pressure and low velocity, high shear wall forces are exerted onto the pipe wall, so the clean is completed in a single pass.

Ice Pigging is used in many manufacturing sectors and industrial processes. Depending on the customer requirements, works can be carried out in plant shutdowns or when shift patterns allow for remedial or preventative works to take place, again maximising “uptime”

The ice mixture also returns loaded with what it removed. Sampling it then shows what was in the line, so teams can plan the next clean instead of guessing what was in the pipeline.

“Ice Pigging proved to be a "game changer" in removing material from pipe systems, but most importantly, Ice Pigging technology was able to reduce the long flushing times associated with water to a matter of minutes. These time savings were achieved whilst also exceeding the extremely high-quality standards that Johnson Matthey’s production require.”
